I Guess the 1st Book Haul of 2019

Barnes & Noble Pick-Ups

Murder with Fried Chicken and Waffles (A Mahalia Watkins Mystery) by A. L. Herbert.  I’ve seen this floating around once or twice.  It’s a black cozy mystery (series) with a soulfood-themed hook.  And Death by Dumpling is in the same vein of a food inspired mysteries.  Except the author, Vivien Chien, takes on the Chinese noodle shop as her hook.

 Barnes & Noble Online Pick-Ups

Anyone else been waiting for UPS packages to come during this holiday season? Soooo, I’m picking up where I left off with these two black authors with currently running cozy series. Read Herring Hunt is book two in V. M. Burns’s Mystery Bookshop Mystery series. The series features inspiring writer and bookshop owner, Samantha Washington. While I gave the first book two stars, I have to give more support to Burns’s series with the second book. And I’m back again with the second book in Olivia Matthews’s Sister Lou mystery with Peril & Prayer. Bishhhhh, I can not WAIT to see what’s up with Sister Lou this time.
BookOutlet P. D. James Run

P. D. James is the author I’m mercilessly searching for new availability on BookOutlet. It took nothing but a word for me to grab these two before someone else did. These are books seven and eight in James’s famous (understatement there) Adam Dalgliesh series. I’ve collected unread entries four to six already. Sort of stockpiling before I take them on.

Disappointed Retries (BookOutlet Run #2)

These are omnibus collections of the first three books in Rhys Bowen’s “Royal” series, and Emily Brightwell’s “Mrs. Jeffries” series. Though disappointed in the first book in each series I, per usual, came back for another go with each. I decided to get them in omnibus form to see if three really is a charm. (I owned the Mrs. Jeffries omnibus before and gave it away. Suddenly, I wanted it BACK).

Online Wal-Mart Gift Card Run

Hey, I got a $25 Wal-Mart gift card from work. What better way to use it than to buy Naoko Takeuchi’s Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal Edition #2? And, considering I’m reading each chapter and watching the corresponding anime, this came right on time!
